hank you for the honor of being elected President. I am extremely excited at the prospect of working with the other new members of the Executive Board in leading the largest and best running club in the metropolitan New York area. I also look forward to hearing your ideas and working with you in making this club even better.

e are a diverse and dynamic club with runners of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. People join the Flyers for countless reasons. Some are competitive runners, others recreational, and even a few non-runners who do it strictly for social purposes. Regardless of the motive, we welcome you all with open arms. The many facets of the club were fully displayed January 30th at our annual awards gala, where close to 200 people recognized our best runners along with our most devoted members and partied all night. Whether you spent the last year achieving competitive excellence, taking photographs, planning events, or fighting to come back from injuries, we saluted you. This is exactly why we are an extraordinary club.

ut despite this diversity, in the end we all share a love for running. It’s that passion that brought us together in the first place. So if at the end of my term, you have made new friends and your enthusiasm for this great sport has been enhanced the slightest (or for some even rekindled) then this will have been a very successful year.

Go Flyers!
