The Flyer Inside Scoop - February 2010
huge MAZAL TOV to our Flyer brides and grooms!
Emily Schuster became
Emily Snyder on October 2, when she married film critic Steve Snyder.
Appropriately,
Emily and Steve wed in a movie theater in Madison, Wisconsin. The couple enjoyed a two-week honeymoon in Hawaii, returning just in
time for
Emily to run the NYC Marathon . . .
Susan Hecht married
David Cohen on January 16, at Pier 60 at Chelsea Piers.
Susan and
David met
when
Glen Weiner “happened” to ask
Susan to drive
David to a long training run in Croton in the fall of 2008. . . The next day, January 17,
Nicole Cely
exchanged vows with Ben Bartfeld at the Angler's Boutique Resort in Miami Beach.

on Bennion will wed Kayte Williams on February 20 in Tulum, Mexico, on the beach . . .
Sherri Weinstein is also choosing her wedding gown!
Sherri will marry Michael Satz this summer.
Sherri and Michael met last spring, trained for Lake Placid Ironman together, and became engaged soon
after they crossed the finish line. . . Other upcoming Flyer-Flyer weddings include
Dorian D’Angelo and
Richard Brounstein, and
Andreas Werder
and
Karen Harris. According to
Jerry Flower, the Flyers have spawned an estimated 40 marriages or domestic partnerships in the team’s 20-year history.
aby boom! Congratulations to
Brice Wilson and Annie Chan Wilson on the birth of their second son, Carter Chan Wilson, on November 22. He
weighed 7 pounds 9 ounces and was 20 inches long. Big brother Miles (could his name be more appropriate?) is two. . . Congratulations also to
Chris Dewalt and Erin Boyle Dewalt on the birth of Violet Leanne Dewalt, on Dec. 4. Violet weighed 6 pounds 10 ounces and 19.5 inches long. . .
Several other Flyer births are imminent, so watch this space for more good news!
unning celebrity sighting!
Domenic Romano recently spotted actor Liam Neeson while running in Central Park.
ust when you think the Flyers can’t get any more insane, someone does something totally crazy. This time it’s
Kathy Kass.
Kathy ran back-to-back
marathons, in Mississipi on Saturday and Alabama on Sunday, both in temperatures well below freezing.
Kathy has now completed 36 states in her
50-state marathon quest . . . Not to be outdone,
Scott Martin completed a 100-K on January 9, his third race of 50 miles or longer since September! . . .
Meanwhile, on the West Coast,
Kathleen Nitschelm ran a half marathon in 1:58.
Kathleen is over 70, meaning she ran 1:22 on an age-adjusted basis.
Kathleen is one of the original 1989 Founding Flyers.
oming up later this year:
Scott Cohen and
Tim Decker will run Comrades, the legendary
90-K South African footrace. . .
Amy Mills and
Whit Gregg are also off to South Africa. They will run the Big 5 Marathon to celebrate
their 10th wedding anniversary. . .
Scott Cohen is one of several Flyer men who will graduate to the veteran age group this year, including
Ed Fajardo,
Ken Marks, and
Glen Weiner. Look for our Men’s Vet team to give our legendary Women Vets a run for their money!
