While we're a long way from returning to normal life (if indeed we ever completely do), the terrible surge we've been waiting for hasn't been remotely close to what was expected, and for that we should all be grateful. Ongoing thanks to our first responders, medical professionals, delivery people, restaurant and grocery employees, and maintenancea and custodial staff who continue braving illness every day to keep our society moving.
