Custom Training Programs

Whether you are a beginner looking at finishing your first marathon (or half), or an experienced runner looking to improve, we have the perfect training program to support your goals.

We offer two training programs: Marathon Training Program (MTP) and the Summer/Fall Training Program (STP/FTP). Scroll down for details.

STP/FTP is open to everyone!

MTP: "SOLD OUT"

The NY Flyers’ Marathon Training Program caters to runners of all levels.

The 2024 MTP training starts July 1st (first practice is July 3rd) and ends on November 3rd. All members receive 18-weeks of training, coaching support and coach led practices every Wednesday evening in Central Park. Workouts are uploaded to the V.O2 app and are customized based on the individual's current fitness and training background.

The NY Flyers’ MTP is accessible to runners of all levels, whether you’re training for fitness, to stay connected to the club socially, or a half or full marathon goal this season. Please Note: We do require at least a half marathon finish prior to training for your first marathon. 

Practices

Members gather between 6:30-6:40 pm inside the park near Maine Monument in Columbus Circle. All runners receive a practice email on Sunday evenings, including where we will perform the workout in case you're running late on Wednesday. Bag check is available (free) across the street on the second floor of the Time Warner Center at the Fleet Feet running store.

All athletes train with their assigned group (broken down by fitness level) but at individualized paces prescribed on their training calendar. Practices typically finish (around 7:45 pm) with some strength and mobility exercises. 

Training Plan

All participants receive 18 weeks of training, designed by our coaches and customized based on your training background and goals. Plans are also published to your training calendar based on the number of training days and which days you select. 

All workouts are published to each participant’s V.O2 calendar, which includes the ability to manage your training on the mobile app, website and/or a PDF copy. V.O2 also syncs with popular GPS trackers (Apple, Coros, Garmin, Strava, Fitbit, etc.) so you can easily manage your prescribed workouts and actual splits. 

Coaching Support

All MTP participants are assigned a group coach they can email at any time for questions or adjustments to their plan. Coaches are also available to monitor your training calendar and provide feedback/motivation along the way.

STP + FTP

The NY Flyers’ Summer Training Program (STP) and Fall Training Programs (FTP) cater to runners of all levels and are open to everyone, non-Flyers included.

The STP 8-week training runs July 9th to August 27th. The FTP 8-week training runs September 10th to October 29th.

All participants receive 8-weeks of group workouts, coaching support, and coach led practices every Tuesday evening in Central Park. Workouts are uploaded to the V.O2 app and are customized based on the individual's current fitness and background.

NEW with EXTRA members can elect to receive a full custom training plan with online coaching ~ perfect for marathoners or anyone who wants individualized training geared to their goals every day of the week, including rest days.

For an additional $25 receive 8 weeks of training customized based on your training background and goals. Plans are published to your training calendar based on the number of training days and which days you select. All workouts are published to each participant’s V.O2 calendar, which includes the ability to manage your training on the mobile app, website and/or a PDF copy. V.O2 also syncs with Garmin, Coros, and Apple watches so you can easily manage your prescribed workouts and actual splits.

Coaching Support

All participants are assigned a group coach they can email at any time. Coaches are also available to monitor your training and provide feedback/motivation along the way.
