Percy Sutton Harlem 5K

(Full disclosure: I am filling in for our multi-talented race reporter Francesco Presutti ✍🏼 while he is in Italy. 🇮🇹 I will try my best to cover the highlights of the race. Keep your expectations in check. Here goes-)

Happy 50th Birthday 🎉 to Harlem Week! To learn more about Harlem Week, Click Here! According to the NYRR website, the Percy Sutton 5K kicks off Harlem Week: an annual celebration of the neighborhood's history in arts, culture, religion, entertainment, and so much more! 🎭🎨💃🏾🪩🕺🏾To our beloved running community - Harlem is synonymous with Hills, (as in Harlem Hill ⛰️).

That said, congratulations to the 47 flyers who embraced the streets and sights of Harlem, along with its challenging hills! ⛰️⛰️⛰️

Lisa Konorty came in 4th place with a time of 28:06, Pace: 8:25, AGP: 71.83, and 10th in her Age Group, and Deborah Saat came in 5th place with a time of 27:15, Pace: 8:47, AGP: 73.4, and 7th in her Age Group. 🌟🌟

I had a chance to catch up with speedy female flyer Lisa Konorty after the race. Here is what she had to say:

This race is always one of my favorites, especially since Harlem is my home turf. For anyone who hasn't run this, I won't scare you off with stories of the hill just before mile 2. 🤣 The energy in Harlem is amazing and even though I ran conservatively and didn't race today (as I'm recovering) the spectators cheering gave me a super boost!
