It's election time again!
The Executive Board consists of the five elected officers of the Flyers and is responsible for setting club policy. Meetings are scheduled in advance, approximately monthly, and the club's business is conducted at such meetings. Appointed offices such as team captains, the social chair, the membership chair, and various other persons often attend meetings in an advisory capacity. All of the elected officers typically take on projects as needed on an ad hoc basis. One of the best ways to understand what the Executive Board does is to read the meeting minutes from the past few months. You can find the minutes towards the bottom of your Member's Dashboard.
President
The President presides at all club meetings and Executive Board meetings. He or she is responsible for calling meetings, initiating projects and providing leadership to the club. He or she may establish standing or special committees with Executive Board approval.
Vice President
The Vice President assists the President as appropriate and assumes his or her duties when the president is absent. The Vice President typically takes on special projects such as event organization or managing apparel.
Secretary
The Secretary is responsible for recording minutes of all meetings. They also assist with editing and publication of a club newsletter.
Treasurer
The Treasurer is responsible for managing the expenses of the club and maintains the financial books and the checking account. The club typically takes in and disburses $50,000 -$60,000 per year, so this job requires a high degree of financial responsibility. The Treasurer is also responsible for filing the tax returns with the IRS.
Member at Large
The Member at Large is responsible for representing the interest of members of the club in any way possible. He or she typically maintains contact with the membership and brings issues and concerns to the attention of the Executive Board.
