Meet Parmila Phillips: Nominee for President

🏃♀️ Hey there, Flyer—I’m running for President, and I’d love your vote.
I’m a native New Yorker—well, except for that decade or so I spent out West and in London chasing mountains, surf, snakebites, and boys. These days, I work for an NGO by day, and in my spare time, you’ll find me rescuing food as a volunteer leader with City Harvest, sitting in silence at the Vipassana center, yapping it up at a jazz club (well, any pub really), flexing at a HIIT class, or hanging with my fam and friends.
I joined the Flyers back in 2016 or 2017 for their legendary long runs, but it wasn’t until post-COVID—when my Flyer ride-or-die moved to Greenwich—that I really dove into the community. Suddenly, I wasn’t just showing up for miles; I was showing up for people—and happy hour quickly became my core competency.
Whether it’s the boardroom or a hill repeat, I’ve learned that endurance and commitment matter—and yes, beer is a pretty strong motivator.
So why am I running for President? To quote our Nominating Committee: “I come to the events, I smile, and genuinely have a great time.” That’s because this club—like for many of you—has come to mean so much to me—and, I know, to many of you too. Not just because I’ve shamelessly filled my pockets with free gels after long runs, but because I believe in this community. The people who show up smiling week after week make this the kind of group worth running—and running for.
As President, my focus is simple: Community and Inclusion. I want our club to stay welcoming, a little imperfect, and a lot of fun—no matter your pace or playlist. And if you’re wondering how I’ll find the time? Having fun is my superpower. I thrive on being busy, fueled by people, this great city—and my VDOT!
Sprint for P! Good folks, good miles, good times…

Meet Erenea Saludares: Nominee for Vice-President
I am Erenea Saludares, and I am deeply honored to be nominated for Vice President of the Executive Board of the New York Flyers.
I became a member in 2019 when Barbara Paer introduced me to this amazing club, and I’ve loved being part of it ever since. It has been a joy to connect with such a warm, welcoming community of runners who bring great energy and positivity to every event.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of contributing to several Flyers events, including the Annual Awards Gala Committee, Summer Soirée, and serving at pacing and water stations for 3 Bridges and The Last Ten Miles. These experiences have strengthened my connection to the club and allowed me to give back to a community that has supported me in countless ways.
Beyond the Flyers, I serve as an Achilles Guide, assisting runners with disabilities. Volunteering in this capacity has been deeply rewarding, as it allows me to combine my love of running with my commitment to helping others.
As Vice President of the Executive Board, I am eager to continue fostering a strong sense of community, welcoming new members, and ensuring our events are thoughtfully and efficiently organized as the club continues to grow. I am committed to collaborating closely with fellow Board members to keep our club thriving and to expand in ways that benefit all members.
Thank you for considering my nomination. I look forward to the opportunity to contribute even more to the Flyers and to continue building the vibrant community that makes this club so special.

Meet Neil Tipograph: Nominee for Treasurer
To My Flyers Family,
Since joining the New York Flyers in 2019, I've met remarkable people and enjoyed our team training runs, races, and socials. I've also enriched my knowledge about running, exercise, and nutrition through the Marathon Training Program and group runs. It would be an honor to serve on the 2026 board of an organization I deeply admire.
As the 2024 and 2025 Treasurer, I've implemented a framework to allow our Club to maintain a strong financial position. By moving to the Heylo app and web platform, we've improved billing, collection, event sign-up/RSVP, payment, and check-in procedures. We've also reduced IT costs and made our website more reliable.
Looking ahead to 2026, the Board should focus on keeping the New York Flyers relevant and engaged within the running community. The Heylo platform has helped us welcome new members, and it’s important to continue strengthening our presence on social media. We should also look to expand our weekly runs, introduce new themed events, and maintain our outreach to NYRR for additional race bibs.
If re-elected as Treasurer, I can draw on my 45 years of experience as a CPA, partner of a CPA firm, and tax expert with non-profit experience. I also have over 30 years of experience as a board member, advisor, and treasurer of various civic organizations, trade associations, and athletic clubs. I hold an accounting degree from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA in Taxation from New York University.
I bring positive energy, enthusiasm, and governance best practices from my board experience. I look forward to working with my board members and listening to our membership to ensure the Flyers continue to thrive as a successful running and social club.
Thank you for your consideration.
With warm regards,
Neil

Meet Ashley Phelps: Nominee for Secretary
I ran my first 10k at 29 but didn’t begin running consistently until my mid-thirties. In 2019, I completed the NYC Half Marathon and was hooked by the city’s energy and the sense of accomplishment at the finish line. That same year, I completed the 9+1 program for the NYC Marathon, which I ran for the first time in 2022—and absolutely loved.
I discovered the Flyers while training that summer and joined after participating in The 3 Bridges and The Last 10 runs. I met Coach Amy and Coach Jim through the SpeedPass program while training for the 2024 Chicago Marathon, and immediately felt a strong sense of camaraderie with the coaches and fellow Flyers. Since then, I’ve participated in WTP and MTP, and continue to be inspired by the club’s supportive community. This past summer, I volunteered at the Team Championships picnic setup and the Summer Soirée, and served as a pacer at both of The 3 Bridges and The Last 10 runs. The Flyers have made such a positive impact on my running journey, and I’m excited for the chance to give back to this incredible community.
As a dedicated and passionate (though relatively new) member of the Flyers, I am eager to contribute my leadership, organizational, and community-building skills as the Secretary of the Executive Board. I believe in fostering an inclusive, motivating environment where runners of all levels feel supported and inspired to reach their goals. With my professional experience in sales, I am confident I can help strengthen our club’s mission, enhance member engagement, and support continued growth.
After this year’s NYC Marathon, I will be turning my focus back to racing every Team Club Points race possible and running a half marathon in all fifty states!

Meet Victor Tan: Nominee for Member-At-Large
I started running in 2021 during the pandemic, when gyms were closed. What began as a way to stay active quickly became a passion. That same year, I ran my first 10K with NYCRuns and completed my first half marathon. Since then, I’ve gone on to run the NYC Marathon in 2023, 2024, and most recently, 2025.
I first learned about the Flyers when a colleague gave a talk for marathon beginners and mentioned the group’s training runs and the Three Bridges Run. I was training for the NYC Marathon at the time, and the Flyers’ community spirit immediately caught my attention. After joining, my first event with the team was, fittingly, the Three Bridges Run. Since then, I’ve been actively involved by participating in Sunday runs at Prospect Park, pacing for the Three Bridges Run and Last Ten Miles Run, and joining events like the TNF Runs, Dyker Heights Holiday Lights Run, Pre-Marathon Pasta Party, STP, and MTP.
Volunteering and giving back have always been important to me. That’s why I’m running for the Member-At-Large position to support the Flyers community that has given me so much. I hope to continue the great work of the current board, help organize fun runs that strengthen camaraderie, support local events, and document processes to make our operations more efficient. The Flyers have been incredibly supportive, and I’m excited for the chance to give back and help others reach their running goals, just as others have helped me.
