Some Things to Remember (from the organizers):

Route: This is an untimed, 5K run, walk, run-walk and march.  This is not a race.  We will ask that all runners move to the front to ensure the safety/comfort of those who will be walking/marching with us.  There will be no pacers, however, there will be volunteers/cones along the route to guide you.  As there are no street closures for this event, please stay on the sidewalk as much as possible and be mindful of yourself and others.  Safety is paramount.

Mask guidelines - everyone must come with a mask - runners can remove masks once run starts; walkers are encouraged to keep masks on because of potential crowding.  Many in our community may not be vaccinated/may have conditions that prevent them from being vaccinated so please be considerate.

Details: NYC made Juneteenth a Holiday in 2020. On Saturday June 19th, 2021 the NYFlyers will commemorate the holiday by joining and supporting a solidarity march organized by the Keith Institute, in the form of a 5k walk/run with NYC-based run crews and community groups. The event will cover Riverbank, Jackie Robinson, Saint Nicholas, and Morningside Parks in Harlem.

Immediately following the 5k, the event organizers are hosting a concert and BBQ highlighting local eateries, food trucks and vendors that champion health and wellness.

We reached out to the sponsors, among which is Harlem Run, and asked how we could help- they really need volunteers to monitor the course and keep it safe for all who attend, especially kids and the elderly. Please let us know in your rsvp if you would volunteer.
