New York Flyers

Now's the time to up your game and join one of the largest and oldest running clubs in New York City. It doesn’t matter if you are a beginner, a seasoned runner, looking to race, looking to socialize, or looking for some motivation. All are welcome. By becoming a member, you get free and reduced member rates for a wide range of group runs, special events, training programs, and more!

(Note that membership ($30/year) is just a little bit more than the cost of a single long run ($20/run). As a member, all long runs are free. More benefits detailed below.)

The annual membership dues is $30 and runs for twelve months from the date of the application.

To join us, click the Heylo button and you will be taken to 'Heylo' our membership management app.  After you sign up, you can use your account to pay for dues, Flyers' parties, special events and training. FAQS

How long have the Flyers been around?

The New York Flyers was founded in 1989 by Tim Kennedy and Jonathan Buck. Their goal was to establish a running club open to individuals of all athletic abilities and experience levels. The Club started with 7 charter members.

In 1991 the Club's objectives were expanded to embrace multi-sport activities as well, such as duathlons and triathlons. Membership has grown consistently, with over 600 runners, biathletes and triathletes.

When are group runs?

Do the New York Flyers have any social activities?

Yes! We are a very social club. In addition to impromptu get-togethers after weekly runs or training programs, we also have after-race celebrations and brunches, an annual awards gala, a holiday party, and volunteer activities.

How do I become a member?

Membership is open to everyone interested in running or multi-sport activities. Members are welcome without regard to athletic ability, age, gender identity, race, ethnic background, religion, or sexual orientation.

Do the New York Flyers have a coach?

Yes! We have a team of experienced and dedicated coaches who lead our Summer/Fall and Marathon Training Programs.

What are points races?

These are specially designated New York Road Runners races in which the New York Flyers compete against other local teams for monthly points. Everyone’s participation helps our standing! 

Do I have to be fast to join the Flyers?

No! We have members of all running speeds and abilities. All are welcome from beginner runners to seasoned veterans.

What age groups are represented in the Flyers?

The Flyers represent all age divisions in the club competitions, from Open (18-29) to Senior Veteran (60+).

Do I have to live in New York City?

No! While most members live in one of the five boroughs of NYC, we have members in New Jersey, Connecticut, Long Island, Westchester, and states across the U.S. We even have a few members who live abroad!

Is the New York Flyers only for runners?

No! We have members who participate in duathlons, triathlons, and Ironman competitions.
