New York Flyers: Important Update on Annual Dues Payment
A guide to help you transition from PayPal to Heylo

Starting the week of July 15, 2024, we will migrate membership and events to Heylo. You
will soon receive an email from Heylo with a link to create or to append to your Heylo
account. We created this guide to help transition members to Heylo. If you have any
questions or concerns about the switch to Heylo, please feel free to contact us by email at
eb@nyflyers.org.

Next steps for all members:

-Follow the link that Heylo will send you via email to create or to append to your
Heylo account.
-Cancel your PayPal autopay renewal (instructions below).
All future Flyers events will be on Heylo, starting with the first Three Bridge Run (run #1)
on Sunday, August 25, 2024. You will not be able to sign up for the Three Bridges
Run #1 without a Heylo account. Your existing membership information has already
migrated, and you will receive an email from Heylo with a link (see below for more
information on this).

What is Heylo?

Heylo is a group platform that will help organize and manage our club membership,
payments, events and sign-ups, and communications. Within Heylo, the Flyers have a
dedicated group space that can be accessed on the Heylo app or through a web browser
on a computer or phone. Heylo has a 4.9 star rating in the app store and it’s used by some
of the top running clubs in NYC and around the world!

Why are we switching to Heylo?

-Heylo will help us manage our membership and events more efficiently.
-Heylo uses Stripe, a secure and reliable payment processor. This is how we will
collect payments such as annual dues ($30) and event fees.
- Members will be able to make payments easily using convenient payment options
(debit card, credit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay.).
-Heylo will allow members to provide additional details to ensure safety such as a
phone number, and emergency contact.
-Members will be able to easily connect with each other in our dedicated Heylo
group space – you will only receive communications from our group.

How to switch to Heylo

-Follow the link that Heylo will send you via email to create or to append to your
Heylo account.
-If your annual dues are owed currently, you will be instructed to enter payment
information in Stripe and authorize the payment.
-If a duplication of payment of dues has occurred during the past 12 months, please
email us the proof of the original payment to treasurer@nyflyers.org and we will
refund your recent payment and adjust our records.
-If you prefer to pay by check, please contact us at treasurer@nyflyers.org and we
will arrange the payment with you.

How to cancel your PayPal autopay

-Log into your PayPal account online and go to Settings (little gear on top right)
-Click on Payments and then Automatic payments (scroll down)
-Select New York Flyers and click on Cancel (or “Remove PayPal as payment
method” at bottom)
-Confirm your cancellation (“Remove”) and you are done.
-If using the PayPal app, tap “Wallet” on bottom right. Then tap “Manage autopay” on
top right. On the Active tab, scroll down to New York Flyers, click the Manage tab on
upper right and “Stop paying with PayPal” at bottom.

Can I use Heylo on my computer or phone?

Both! You can use Heylo from your computer, mobile app or phone browser. Here is the
Heylo link to our group. https://heylo.group/new-york-flyers-running-club

Is Heylo safe?

Yes - our group has a dedicated space on Heylo. It’s just for us and access is controlled so
that non-members cannot join. Plus, there are safety and security features built into Heylo
so you can provide feedback or report any issues right away.

What if I already use Heylo for other groups?

No problem! If you accept the invitation, you’ll be added to the Flyers group. You can use
the same existing account without impact to your other groups on Heylo.

What happens to my paid Flyers' membership?

Your membership renewal date has already been added to Heylo. When your date comes
up, you will be alerted, and you can complete your renewal payment right in the Heylo
platform. You can use major credit card or debit card, including Apple or Google Pay, from
your phone or computer. Plus, you can get receipts or update your payment info anytime.
