SUMMARY:DEBS Book Club Event
DESCRIPTION:The DEBS are hosting an informal book club social to discuss\, “What I Talk About When I Talk About Running” by Haruki Murakami. This is an in-person event without the author (sorry) but a chance to hang out together and talk about the book\, running\, races\, injuries\, etc. This book is an enjoyable fast read so we highly recommend it. \n\n\n\nWhat the book is about: While training for the New York City Marathon\, Haruki Murakami decided to keep a journal of his progress. The result is a memoir about his intertwined obsessions with running and writing\, full of vivid recollections and insights\, including the eureka moment when he decided to become a writer. Funny and sobering\, playful and philosophical\, here is a rich and revelatory work that elevates the human need for motion to an art form. \n\n\n\nCustomers find this book to be a wonderful memoir that reads like a runner's diary\, with delightful ruminations on both writing and running. Moreover\, they appreciate its meditative and relaxing nature. Additionally\, the book receives positive feedback for its simplicity\, personal nature\, and honesty\, while customers find it insightful; highlighting how it reflects on the small things in life. \n\n\n\nOne of Murakami's many insights: "Pain is inevitable\, suffering is optional." \n\n\n\nYou can purchase the book in hardcover\, paperback\, Kindle or Audiobook at: \n\n\n\nhttps://a.co/d/0cdJr0n1 \n\n\n\n\nCLICK HERE TO RSVP ON HEYLO\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFacebook\n\nLink\n\nInstagram

SUMMARY:NYC Premiere Screening of "Learning to Fly" film
DESCRIPTION:The DEBS Book Club is presenting their 2nd film event! The Flyers have been offered 8 free tickets to the NYC Premiere Screening of the film\, "Learning to Fly" showing at Pier 57 on Tuesday\, August 18th. A Pre-Reception will take place at 7:00 PM and a screening will begin at 8:30 PM and a Q&A session with the creators of the film afterwards. \n\n\n\nLEARNING TO FLY follows former competitive runner turned photographer Aisha McAdams as she embarks on a journey to document the triumphs and struggles of some of the biggest names in ultra running\, such as Jim Walmsley and Eszter Csillag\, as they compete at the Western States Endurance Run in the Mountains of Eastern California and the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc (UTMB) in the French Alps. \n\n\n\nWhile photographing and interviewing these elite runners\, Aisha confronts her own painful and complex past\, and the reasons why she had to step away from racing\, a pursuit that had once brought her a much-needed sense of freedom\, joy and belonging. \n\n\n\nOn its face\, it might be hard to understand why someone would push themselves to run grueling 100-mile trail races\, through the night and up and down thousands of feet of mountain trails. Throughout the journey of documenting these elite athletes in competition though\, watching their failures and triumphs up close and seeing the community they’ve built by the process of pushing the unknown\, Aisha starts to reclaim not only her love of the sport but also her belief in her own ability to confront her own idea of impossible within her interpretation of the sport. \n\n\n\n"Learning to Fly" trailer: https://youtu.be/MnZlcm0KZrk?si=MIYCPW1KwGEFgdlC \n\n\n\nSince there are a limited number of tickets\, please only register if you are positively certain you can and will attend. Details on how to receive tickets will follow. \n\n\n\n\nCLICK HERE TO RSVP ON HEYLO\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFacebook\n\nLink\n\nInstagram
