This is fantastic training for the NYC Marathon\, as it parallels the NYC Marathon course for much of the way and reaches the Queensboro Bridge at the same mileage as you will during the NYC Marathon. Open to all!   The full distance of this run is 20 miles\, but it is easy to shorten it by finishing at the Manhattan end of the Queensboro Bridge (16 miles)\, the Queens end of the Queensboro Bridge (15 miles) or at any of the many nearby subway stops along the way.   This run starts and finishes at Jackrabbit Running Store (formerly the NY Running Co.) at Time Warner Center at Columbus Circle (60th/Broadway) with baggage check and will take us through three boroughs and over three bridges (the Brooklyn Bridge\, Pulaski Bridge\, and 59th Street Bridge). We will cross the 59th Street Bridge at about mile 16\, almost the same as in the TCS NYC Marathon. This fantastic run will prepare you\, both physically and mentally\, for the challenges that await you on November 6\, 2022. \n\n\n\nTo see who else is signed up\, click HERE. \n\n\n\nSign up to volunteer as a pacer HERE. \n\n\n\nIf you're not running\, you can sign up to volunteer at a Fluid Station HERE.

Much like Bikila\, the running crews of North Manhattan and the Bronx are transforming the health of their communities by bringing our sport to every doorstep. They will be joined by the New York Flyers\, one of New York’s largest crews. Designed to touch at or close to the home base of many of our crews\, the routes explore the terrain of North Manhattan and the Bronx and remain easy to follow. \n\n\n\nBefore there was Ted Corbitt or Fred Lebow\, before Grete Waitz or Eliud Kipchoge\, Abebe Bikila of Ethiopia changed the world of running. In 1960\, Bikila broke the world Marathon record running the Rome Olympics Marathon…barefoot. His sensational performance and pictures of his bloodied finish captured the world’s imagination and put Marathon running on the global athletics map. Four years later\, Bikila wore running shoes to break his Rome record by 3 minutes in the Tokyo Olympics. Today\, New York Road Runners presents the Abebe Bikila Award to athletes or non-athletes who have made outstanding contributions to the world of running.
